Djilba – The Colours of New Beginnings
As Djilba arrives across our beautiful South West Boodja, the land begins to awaken with a burst of colour and life. The cooler days slowly give way to warmer sunshine, bringing new growth and the promise of beautiful things to come.
Across the earth, delicate wildflowers emerge in shades of pink, purple, white and golden brown, spreading their beauty across the landscape. Each flower tells a story of renewal, while the rich colours of the earth remind us of the strength and spirit of Country.
The circles throughout the artwork represent places of connection, where life grows, stories are shared and generations come together. Like the flowers scattered across Boodja, every living thing has its place and purpose.
For Noongar people, Djilba is a time to observe the changing landscape, welcome new life and continue caring for the Country that cares for us.
As the wildflowers dance beneath the warming sun, we are reminded that every season brings change, beauty and new beginnings.
